About the opportunity:
 
As VP of Technology, you will drive overall IT strategy. You’ll have an opportunity to move the needle on key business objectives while working closely with the CEO and executive leadership team to align technical and engineering teams with business objectives.  You will be positioned to identify and create opportunities for technical optimization and incremental innovation.  You will be the key leader responsible for planning the information technology future for the organization including ensuring system stability and responsiveness, computer operations, network systems, data warehouse, telecommunications, enterprise-wide off-the-shelf-software and systems or proprietary software that support our key internal and external interactions. You will also lead and mentor the software engineering teams to deliver all aspects of product development, from design to production. This role reports to the CEO and plays a prominent leadership role throughout the organization to drive the company’s success.


Target accomplishments (first 3 - 6 months):
  • Understand requirements for 2019 health plan partner implementations and create plan to deliver on them, including system optimization needs resulting from business evolution.
  • Lead, inspire, develop, empower, assess, and work alongside existing technology team of 20 employees that includes: 10 software developers, an EDI/ETL team, a product manager, a quality assurance team, and IT operations and security.
  • Provide direction to stack upgrade process and experienced perspective on the incorporation of new tools and technologies.
  • Increase rigor and consistency of software development process to create a predictable cadence on which everyone can rely.
  • Work across departments to understand business and customer needs; establish credible project roadmap and delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with CEO to lay out a clear and realistic strategic vision for our technical efforts.
 
Qualifications:
  • Experience building and leading technical teams (i.e. software development, product, and operational IT)
  • Strong strategic and hands-on technical experience including but not limited to software development, product management and product development
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive and deliver in fast-paced, flat organizations
  • Track record of delivering tangible, measurable results; uses data to backup findings (we love open debate and discourse)
  • Lead-by-example, hands-on, player-coach leadership philosophy
  • BS or MS in technical discipline (e.g. computer science or engineering)
